Either way, there's no better way to start or spend a Valentine's Day than sipping a few cocktails with someone special, someone not-so-special or with some girlfriends.

The Statue of Liberty is one of New York City's most iconic attractions, and it's a must see for every NYC Tourist, but for the past year, Lady Liberty has been having work done. After her year long face-lift the Statue of Liberty reopened on her 126th birthday!
Nearly 3.5 million visitors make their way to the Statue of Liberty every year, but that everyone that wanted to visit the monument before was able to. These renovations and improvements will allow over 25,000 more people to visit annually.
What makes this possible you ask? Well first of all, the new and improved attraction is now wheelchair accessible up to the observation deck! In addition, there are new staircases and an emergency elevator. If you've been before, you know that trekking up those steep stairs before was quite a hassle, but these improvements make for an easier haul for every NYC Tourist, even the handicapped travelers!
Visitors were not allowed inside the Statue of Liberty from September 11, 2001 until 2004, and in 2009 they were finally allowed to climb to the top of her crown again.
Be sure to book your reservations to head up to the crown in advance! Reservations can be made up to one month in advance, so book yours once you start planning your trip! For now, the monument will only be open Thursday - Sunday, but early in 2013, will start to open every day to the public.
Hurricane Sandy is sweeping the northeast right now, so be sure to check the weather in NYC before planning your trip to the Statue of Liberty...
Once all the renovation on the Statue of Liberty are complete (sometime in 2013) the costs will amount to nearly $30 million!
To answer some of your questions about the new and improved Lady Liberty...
- How many steps to the crown of the Statue of Liberty?
Before: 354
Now: 393. It's more steps for you, but slightly less steep than before. We say slightly, but anything less steep than before is a blessing. - How tall is the Statue of Liberty?
She still towers over the city at 151 feet from her toes to her torch, and beneath her is a 89 foot pedestal. Underneath both is a 65 foot foundation. That totals 305 feet from the ground to her tippy-top! - What is Lady Liberty made of?
The Statue of Liberty is made of copper, which has oxidized over the years to form her green color. Despite the other work she's had done, she will remain green. - When is the Statue of Liberty's birthday (or the day the statue was finished)?
The monument was completed on October 28, 1886. After the latest batch of renovations to make the Statue of Liberty accessible to more NYC Tourists, she reopened on her 126th birthday in 2012! - For more fun facts, visit the complete Statue of Liberty History!
Check out all the Statue of Liberty discounts and savings, tours and more!
- The Statue of Liberty Express Cruise runs year round, with an in depth commentary along the way!
- The Romance/VIP Tour by Liberty Helicopters also runs year round, and even on the holidays! Whether you're in NYC for Christmas (or any of the other great holidays to celebrate here) or you're just on a romantic getaway, this is an exciting way to see share your trip with another beautiful lady!
- One of the NYC Go Cards is the hop on hop off and Liberty Pass, which saves you 10% on a tour of NYC and admission to the Statue of Liberty!

It's finally fall! What we've been looking forward to all year long, right? The temperatures are dropping slowly, but not so low that we're layering up heavily like we will be a few weeks from now. But those temperatures are still dropping enough that it gets pretty darn cold at night. What do you do to warm up when the weather gets cool?
Some people like to curl up by the fire.
Others enjoy downing soup and chasing it with a shot of whiskey. Or something along those lines?
