Submitted by on 08/30/2011

In the world of theater, fall means more than the changing colors of leaves- it marks the rolling in of new Broadway plays, and the theater community is already buzzing about one new show in particular – Stick Fly, which will be produced by the Grammy Awarded Alicia Keys.  Stick Fly depicts African-American life in a passionate, personal, funny and relatable way for a wide audience.

The play follows the LeVay family on a weekend trip to Martha’s Vineyard as they engage in lively games, meals, drinks and conversations.  Both of the LeVay sons are introducing the rest of the family to each of their girlfriends – one is black, one is white. Themes of identity and race play a role in the play, but it’s as comedic and light-hearted as it is contemporary

Everybody knows that New York City is a shopper's paradise. It's also one of the most expensive cities in the world (Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, home to Saks, FAO Schwarz, and Tiffany & Co., is consistently ranked among the world's most expensive streets, right up there with Bond Street in London and the Avenue des Champs-Elysees in Paris). But just because New York City is expensive doesn't mean you can't find great deals. Below you'll find a list of the best places to shop in New York City.

Glee Stars and Hollywood Legends to Appear on Broadway

Submitted by on 08/02/2011

It's no surprise that the biggest stars in Hollywood are drawn to Broadway. Where else, after all, can they showcase the breadth of their talents? Where else can they sing and dance and soliloquize (perhaps even in the same evening)? Al Pacino, Denzel Washington, James Earl Jones, and Kelsey Grammer are just a few of those who have made recent appearances on the Great White Way. Last month Brooke Shields joined the cast of The Addams Family Musical as Morticia, family matriarch and wife of suave ladykiller Gomez. Shields, who also starred in the 1994 revival of Grease and the 2003 revival of Chicago, replaced the talented Bebe Neuwirth, who held the lead role in the 2010 revival of the play. Shields stars opposite Roger Rees and Jackie Hoffman.

Famous New York Comedy Clubs

Submitted by on 07/25/2011

When it comes to comedy, there's no place in the world like New York City. After all, what other city can claim to have produced the likes of Andy Kaufman, Larry David, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, and Jerry Seinfeld? With fresh comic blood pumping into the city every day, it's no wonder New York is regarded as the mecca of comedy. As you plan your trip to New York City, be sure to reserve a few hours one night for a New York comedy show.

Perhaps the most famous comedy club in New York City is Carolines on Broadway. Originally a cabaret when it opened in 1981, Carolines has since hosted the very best comedians in the entertainment industry, including Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Charlie Murphy, Aziz Ansari, Adam Carolla, and Natasha Leggero. Like most NYC comedy clubs, Carolines on Broadway enforces a two-drink minimum. The drinks, however, are cheap by Manhattan standards, so the minimum won't sting too much.
