Founded in 1804, The New-York Historical Society houses four centuries of history, artifacts, and art that tell the story of America through the eyes of New York.
Museum highlights include the Draft Wheel that ignited the city to riot during the Civil War, George Washington’s cot from the bitter winter at Valley Forge, an extensive collection of John James Audubon watercolors and prints, and a collection of 132 original Tiffany lamps. In all, it's home to one of the country's greatest collections of American art and historical artifacts.
