Corner Shop Cafe
I was roaming around SoHo seeking a breakfast place, later in the morning (around 11am) and I may have just been in the wrong area, but it was tough to find a place that would serve some eggs and OJ. I finally (after about 25 minutes) stumbled upon Corner Shop Café and absolutely loved the look of the place.
I stepped inside and was wowed by how adorable this place was – with a dark grey metal ceiling with an embroidered stamp flower design, brick walls and grey side paneling on the walls. The entire restaurant was decked out in this grey color scheme, with delicate flowers on each table, clear chandeliers hanging overhead and the cutest cream-colored curtains with red birds and flowers on them.
The tables were small and made of dark stained wood, with extra bar seating as well. Over-sized kitchen utensils hung as décor on the walls, and the entire little café had a real homey kitchen feel, with almost a shabby-chic style.
I ordered a breakfast burrito from the brunch menu, and it was large with simple ingredients – just egg and cheese, (meat options available) and came with a side of salad, which I loved. The brunch menu items varied from sweet breakfasts to healthy choices, pastries, bagels and sandwiches. I ordered lemonade, and my only complaint about this quaint eatery was that it wasn’t busy at all, yet my server wasn’t very attentive. She never came to refill my drink or ask how my meal was.
I enjoyed what I ordered and really fell in love with the restaurant for its style. They also had a full bar, which I thought was cool, since not many cafés also serve alcohol. I would go back and hope for a better server next time.
