When it comes to comedy, there's no place in the world like New York City. After all, what other city can claim to have produced the likes of Andy Kaufman, Larry David, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, and Jerry Seinfeld? With fresh comic blood pumping into the city every day, it's no wonder New York is regarded as the mecca of comedy. As you plan your trip to New York City, be sure to reserve a few hours one night for a New York comedy show.
Perhaps the most famous comedy club in New York City is Carolines on Broadway. Originally a cabaret when it opened in 1981, Carolines has since hosted the very best comedians in the entertainment industry, including Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Charlie Murphy, Aziz Ansari, Adam Carolla, and Natasha Leggero. Like most NYC comedy clubs, Carolines on Broadway enforces a two-drink minimum. The drinks, however, are cheap by Manhattan standards, so the minimum won't sting too much.
Another legendary New York comedy club is the Broadway Comedy Club. Located in Times Square, near some of the best restaurants in New York City, the Broadway Comedy Club regularly features outstanding comedic talents such as Tim Allen, Tracy Morgan, and Damon and Shawn Wayans. This lively comedy club in NYC also offers delicious bar food, making it an excellent choice for birthdays and bachelor/bachelorette parties.
