The New York City Halloween count-down continues and with the creepiest holiday of the year coming up quick, if you’re not already in the spirit, you’re behind schedule!  October in NYC is full of spooky fun, so get your scream on at some of the spooky, creepy, and haunted events around the Big Apple. 

Whether you're seeking a frightening haunted house, spooky cemetery bike tour, creepy costume carnival, or any other spine-tingling scares, the upcoming Halloween events in New York City have it covered. 

Here is a list of some of the best scary things to do in NYC this October:

Nightmare Fairy Tales. Location: Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center. We urge you to enter at your own risk, because this is truly one of the scariest haunted houses in all of New York. You’re bound to jump, scream, and maybe even run from the fairy tale themes you knew and loved as a child.  This creative and terrifying twist on familiar characters will have your heart-pounding with anxiety as you experience the violent side of your favorite fairy tales.  

Spider Crafts in Central Park:  This is a great educational and fun kids Halloween activity in NYC.  Bring the family to the Chess & Checkers House and learn about all the different types of spiders creeping and crawling around Central Park.  This event is free for all ages and will feature festive art activities from 2pm-4pm.

Halloween Haunted Walk & Carnival. Hit the streets of Prospect Park in Brooklyn to be scared silly by zombies, witches, wolf-people, and all kinds of spooky strangers, sneaking around the haunted walk ready to jump out at the nearest victim.

Haunted Halloween Carnival NYC at carnival nightclub in Greenwich Village.  This 21+ NYC Halloween event is an annual collection of clowns, dunk tanks, and other carnival games, turned ghoulish!  Try some exotic cocktails at the open bar, dance your heart-out and bring your A-game costume-wise, because prizes are on the line for all-out risk-takers!

Tour De Frights Haunted Halloween Bike Tour with Bike the Big Apple. Ride through the scariest spots in New York City on a horrifying bike tour through cemeteries, abandoned houses, haunted historic sites and more.  Refreshments, bikes and helmets will be provided – all you need to bring is yourself in costume!

Scary Stories from the Past at Lefferts Historic House in Brooklyn. Enter the circle of scary stories where you’ll hear ghost stories of the historic 1800s Flatbush village surrounding the area of the house. Be brave as Tammy Hall tells the frightful tales from 2-3pm.

Owl Prowl at Blue Heron Nature Center in Staten Island.  Enter the scary night before Halloween on a spooky night walk with owls and other creatures of the dark night.
