The Central Park Zoo in New York City is open 365 days a year and is home to more than 150 species of unique and exotic animals from all over the world. This small zoo covers five acres of picturesque property in Central Park and offers guided tours and interactive programs for adults, children, and families led by the expert Central Park Zoo staff.

The zoo is compromised of three major exhibit areas - tropic, temperate, and arctic - each home to fascinating creatures from diverse climates and habitats across the globe. Admission to the Tisch Children's Zoo is included in the affordable Central Park Zoo ticket price, and allows youngsters up-close and personal contact with the lovable critters who live at the Tisch Children's Zoo.

Although the Central Park Zoo is modest in size, it is home to some of the most exotic animals across all seven continents. The Snow Leopard Exhibit is the most recent addition to the Central Park Zoo and is already one of its most popular attractions. One of the rarest animals in the world, the Snow Leopard Exhibit features a colony of the endangered cats in a rugged replica of their native habitat in Central Asia.

The indoor Rainforest Exhibit is another popular attraction at the Central Park Zoo, featuring multi-level viewing platforms to help visitors get a good view of the diverse flora and fauna in every layer of the tropical walk-through habitat. Remarkle residents of the Rainforest Exhibit include two-toed sloths; black-and-white ruffed lemurs; and long-taloned, toothless Brazilian tamanduas, also known as collared anteaters.

In addition to endearing penguins, venomous snakes, playful monkeys, and adorable red pandas who bear a closer resemblance to cute stuffed animals than the real thing, the Central Park Zoo serves fresh fare daily at the Dancing Crane Cafe and sells unique souvenirs at the Zootique gift shop.
