Jacob Javits Center | Javits Convention Center

Jacob Javits Center is a 675,000-square-foot convention center located on the west side of Manhattan, between 34th and 38th Streets. Designed by architects I. M. Pei and partners, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center was built in 1986 and named for U.S. Senator Jacob K. Javits, who died that year.

In 2006, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to commemorate the start of a $1.7 billion expansion project. While slated for completion in 2010, the project was complicated by numerous physical constraints, and the estimated cost rose to $5 billion.
