What you've heard is true: Bonnie and Clyde, the notorious bank-robbing criminals who captivated Depression-era America with their brazenly violent exploits, are bound for Broadway.
After successful productions at the La Jolla Playhouse in California and the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, the Bonnie & Clyde Musical will open this fall at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater, with previews beginning November 4 and an opening night scheduled for December 1. The musical will star original cast members Laura Osnes (Anything Goes) as Bonnie Parker and Jeremy Jordan (Rock of Ages, West Side Story) as Clyde Barrow. Jeff Calhoun will direct.
The musical, which will also feature a book by Ivan Menchell and music by Frank Wildhorn, will no doubt draw comparisons to Chicago, the critically acclaimed and Tony Award-winning production now playing at the Ambassador Theatre.
