Newly-renovated to celebrate the late Mrs. Helmsley, Leonas NYC features a fine-dining American menu and art deco atmosphere styled after Manhattan's brilliant past.

Why We Dine: Like it's namesake, Leonas Restaurant NYC is steeped in New York tradition. Luxury and class seep from the walls, and the menu - designed by executive chef Brian Wieler - puts a sophisticated spin on classic American dishes.

  • Tradition of Quality: Not without her critics, Leona Helmsley knew how to run a tight ship, and quality of service was her number one priority. Leonas NYC pays homage to Mrs. Helmsley by taking service seriously - though not without a mandatory 19% tip at the end of the meal.
  • Vegetarian Options: Leonas NYC offers a number of diverse salad options, including the Toasted Country Bread Salad, made up of warmed goat cheese, tomatoes and carmelized shallots, topped off with a delicious tomato confit cherry vinaigrette.

Inside Knowledge: Infamously dubbed the "Queen of Mean," Leona Helmsley was a tough-minded real-estate developer and hotel operator who established the Helmsley Hotel Empire with her husband, Harry Helmsley, in the 1970's and '80's. A true New York contradiction, Mrs. Helmsley was both a philanthropist and a criminal; she raised thousands of dollars toward Alzheimer's research, but also served time in jail after a tax evasion conviction.
