Macy's Parade Bands
Is it really a Parade without
the beat of a drum and the toot of a horn? Of course not, which is why the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade doesn’t have just one band but
ten of America’s best bands. Coming from the four corners of the country,
these specially selected bands are bringing their own unique styles and
brand of music to share with spectators along the route. Keeping in time
to the music and stepping to the beat of parade in years past were: Baker
High School, Alabama; Highland High School, Arizona; Riverview High
School, Florida; Lassiter High School, Louisiana; Mayfield High School,
New Mexico; Corning Painted Post West High School, New York; Warren G.
Harding High School, Ohio; Dobyns-Bennett High School, Tennessee and
Waukesha North High School, Wisconsin. Every year, ten new bands are chosen to preform at the parade.
There can’t be a Parade
without cheerleaders, pep squads and dance troupes. These groups have preformed in years past: Universal Cheerleaders
Association, the world’s largest cheerleading squad and Universal Dance
Association, as well as the Mike Miller Dance Team whose precision
choreography had spectators toe-tapping to the beat. E&J Productions –
Caribbean Carnival, Albert & Friends Instant Circus, Tap Dancing Christmas
Trees, Camp Broadway and America
Sings have also appeared.
