The Manhattan Club is a throwback to the New York City of old, which is what gives it the personality and charm its famous for and what makes it one of the top-rated boutique hotels in Midtown. Plus, it doesn't hurt that this upscale hotel is a stone's throw from Carnegie Hall. (Though you really shouldn't attempt this, just take my word for it.)
The lobby lets you know right away that this is classic Manhattan; the furniture is so fresh, so clean, and the bellhops were dressed in traditional get-up. Kudos to these gentlemen for letting me snap a few photos as I took in the lobby scene; they easily could've assumed I was just ducking out of the streets as an oncoming rain show approached. (Not totally false, but still.) There's a cozy vibe in here, and after testing out a few of the plush leather chairs I can tell you that they were picked out with due diligence.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to visit the hotel bar in the Owner's Lounge, but from what I've seen and heard it's good for an early-evening drink before a Broadway show which, by the way, is literally steps away. (MAMMA MIA! at the Garden Theater is perhaps a 60-second walk from the Manhattan Club entrance.)
Overall, this NY boutique hotel is everything it's crapped up to be; clean, intimate, upscale and close to everything you could ask for from a trip to New York. I would absolutely consider the Manhattan Club on your next trip to New York, especially if you have plans to visit the Theater District or a concert at Carnegie Hall. (Seriously. It's right there.)
