About the New York Islanders

Introduced to Long Island in 1972, the NY Islanders have been a mainstay in the NHL for nearly four decades. The Islanders have played every season at the classic Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale NYC, and have put six NHL legends into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
In 1980, the New York Islanders one the first of four Stanley Cup Championships in a row, making this collection of the NY Islanders one of the greatest dynasties in professional sports. However, Islanders hockey has struggled of late, and hasn't won a playoff series since 1993.

Despite the lack of recent success, the NY Islanders are still considered to be one of the most historically successful teams in the NHL. The Islanders have put six players into the Hall of Fame, including the legendary Bob Nystrom and the Islanders' all-time leading goal-scorer, Mike Bossy.

Why We Go

The Islanders take to the ice against rival New Jersey Devils

The Islanders take to the ice against rival New Jersey Devils

The NHL is one of the most exciting sports leagues to see in person. Between the high speeds, the heavy hits, and the unbelievable passion of their loyal fan base, few NY sporting events can match a New York Islanders hockey game. With three NFL teams in the area, it's no doubt that NYC loves its hockey. Find out what all the fuss is about this Winter by attending a New York Islanders game at the Nassau Coliseum NYC in Long Island.

  • Close Hockey Games: Hockey games are low-scoring and almost always close, making NY hockey events some of the most exciting around. If you’re lucky enough, experience the heart-stopping intensity of overtime and shootout hockey at the next NY Islanders game.
  • New York Fights!: Yup - the NHL still allows their players to settle things the old-fashioned way. Every NY Islanders game is good for at least one classic throwdown, especially if you’re in town to see their NYC rivals, the NY Rangers or NJ Devils. No, it’s not very mature. But who doesn’t love a good hockey fight?
  • Family Fun NYC: Introduce the whole family to a North American sporting tradition at a NY Islanders game this Winter. Kids will love the fast pace of the game, and the lack of stoppage in play at NHL hockey games will keep them interested for all 60 minutes. Well, that and the Nassau Coliseum jumbotron . . .
