Westminster Kennel Club Show

The Westminster Kennel Club Show is widely regarded as the most prestigious sporting event for purebred dogs.

If you're a dog lover, February is definitely the best time to travel to New York City. For starters, February is when the Westminster Kennel Club Show is held. This February NYC event, widely regarded as the most prestigious sporting event for purebred dogs, is held annually to a sold-out crowd at the massive Madison Square Garden indoor arena. While the Westminster Kennel Club Show is undeniably the biggest canine event in New York City, there are plenty of other, unrelated dog- and pet-themed NYC events in February, including the Business of Writing Conference, a writing conference for those in the pet writing and publishing industry; William Secord Gallery's "Canine Masters" exhibit, a collection of 19th-century dog paintings; the American Canine Education Foundation's Annual Reception and Dance; and the Dog Writers Association of America's Annual Awards Dinner.
