Summary
Features: Statue of Liberty NYC is New York City's most iconic landmark. It is located on Liberty Island, which can only be reached by ferry along with Ellis Island. Liberty Island has a museum, plenty of great close-up views of the historical Statue of Liberty NYC, and scheduled trips to the crown of the statue.
Why We Go: Statue of Liberty NYC is a must-see stop for anyone visiting New York City, as it is one of the most iconic elements to the Big Apple.
- Historical: The Statue of Liberty New York has been around for over 120 years. It was renovated in 1986 to celebrate its 100th anniversary, and continues to stand tall as a symbol of freedom.
- Incredible Views: Whether you are standing at the foot of the Statue of Liberty New York or if you are in its crown, there are plenty of great views to be had at Liberty Island.
- Inexpensive: The only costs to enjoy the Statue of Liberty and everything on it is the price of the ferry ride to get to Liberty Island. If you want to check out the crown of the statue, it is an additional $3 on top of the ferry ride. However, there are no other expenses. Everything else on the island that you may want to check out is free.
Inside Knowledge: The Statue of Liberty NYC was originally a copper color. However, the green patina color began to spread via oxidation of the copper in the early 1900s. The patina serves to protect and smooth the statue, which is now famous for this color.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Check Out the Crown: The crown is one of the best scenic spots in New York City, and it's only $3 more to go up there. We recommend that you reserve crown tickets when you plan your trip to the Statue of Liberty NYC.
- Do Bring a Camera: Nothing is better than capturing some photographs of the icnredible views around Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty NYC. Make sure that you bring a camera, and then share your pictures with your friends.
- Don't Wait to Reserve: This attraction is popular. As in, you will not be able to get onto the island in a reasonable amount of time if you don't reserve now. Make your reservations early, or expect a ridiculously long wait to get onto the island.
- Don't Forget a Snack and Water: Even when you make reservations, you will have to wait for attractions like the crown. Don't forget to bring a snack and especially some water if you are visiting the statue during warmer months.

Pay a Visit to Lady Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is generally at the top of many tourists’ lists of things to see in NYC and there are several options of how to achieve this goal. Going to the Statue didn’t do much for me personally, but I can see how if you’ve never gone you’d want to experience it. In my opinion, seeing the statue from a boat tour is the best option, because the boat tours such as Harbor Line and Circle Line are really informative and entertaining, and they also give you an excellent view of the statue.
Regardless of your preference of seeing it from afar or going to the actual site, I absolutely recommend getting a good look at this American icon during your stay in NYC it is as cool to see in real life as you’d expect.

The Statue of Liberty is Awesome!
You know how sometimes famous landmarks are just not as cool in person as they sound (The Alamo), well the Statue of Liberty is not one of those. The whole process of going to the Statue of Liberty was awesome. The boat ride over to Liberty Island is really fun. You get to see all of New York from the water. There are amazing views of Manhattan from the island, and seeing the Statue of Liberty up close is very surreal. I highly recommend this to anyone who makes it to New York!
