The American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side of Manhattan is one of the largest and most famous museums in the world. Situated in a picturesque 17-acre park, the American Museum of Natural History attracts over 4 million visitors every year with an extensive collection of more than 32 million specimens displayed throughout the hallowed halls of this cultural, scientific, and historical New York City institution.

Adults and children alike will be educated, entertained, and enchanted by the myriad permanent and special exhibits displayed within the 45 exhibition halls at the American Museum of Natural History. The halls of Ocean Life, Meteorites, Gems, and Reptiles and Amphibians are among the most popular permanent exhibitions at the museum, captivating visitors with specimens like a 94-foot-long full-scale replica of a blue whale; the famous 563 carat Star of India sapphire gemstone; and a 34 ton meteorite - the largest on display at any museum in the world - supported by columns extending deep into the ground below the museum floor.

The museum also features over 100 special exhibitions every year including a fascinating interactive journey inside the human brain; a recreation of a tropical forest filled with over 500 live butterflies; and an exploration of the history, science, and allure of chocolate in an exhibit as appetizing as it is informative.

Admission to the American Museum of Natural History also grants guests entry to the Rose Center for Earth and Space and the Hayden Planetarium. Stunning Space Shows are featured every half hour at the Hayden Planetarium's Space Theater, the largest and most powerful virtual reality simulator in the world.
