The Empire State Building may be New York's tallest, but the Chrysler Building is unequivocally New York City's favorite. Seriously, ask just about any local and they'll tell you no piece of New York architecture beats the Chrysler.
Ironically (and as I learned while enjoying The Ride) the original financier actually HATED the Chrysler Building and refused payments on it in its early days. Well, allow me to tell that gentleman that he has poor taste, because the Chrysler Building is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Odds are you've probably seen this signature NYC building in any number of movies; off the top of my head, I can think of Spiderman and Independence Day. It also gets blow up a lot in said movies, as my hilarious tour guides on The Ride were click to point out.
While I didn't go IN the Chrysler Building (And what's the point, really? All the good stuff is on the outside.), one of my favorite random moments of each trip to New York is walking along and randomly getting a view of the Chrysler. Its majestic art deco top floors and towering antenna are impossible to mistake and quintessentially New York.
This is a city with a ton of history, and there's no symbol of NYC more historic (with the possible exception of the ESB) than that of the Chrysler Building. Do your best to snap a couple good pictures of this living legend on your next visit to New York.
