Alright, this is technically a review for the Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas (which I’ve been inside) and rather than the New York museum (which I’ve been outside). HOWEVER, having seen the pictures of the NYC venue online and the dozens of tourists that line up to see this Times Square attraction each day, I can say confidently that I know what I’m talking about when I say that this wax museum is extremely entertaining.
Let me start by saying that it’s REALLY hard to miss Madame Tussauds. Given the huge neon sign jetting off the side of the building, combined with the fact that it’s in Times Square, Madame Tussauds has become a signature staple of NYC. And considering the quality of the wax statues that it’s filled with, it’s no surprise why.
The wax statues range from past presidents (Lincoln and JFK) and historical figures (Martin Luther King, Jr.), to new pop sensations that your kids will love (Justin Bieber) and you’ll tolerate (Taylor Swift). My particular favorite was the part of the museum dedicated to athletes. It’s really fun to compare how you stack up against the likes of Michael Jordan and Shaq. (Actually, I compared my height to just about every single statue in Madame Tussauds. I’ve got several inches on Jessica Simpson, but was disappointed to discover that Beyonce in heels would tower over me.)
This is definitely a kid-friendly attraction, but adults will get a kick out of posing with “celebrities”, too. DO NOT forget your camera; I can’t comprehend why one would come to Madame Tussauds camera-less. But if you do it right, you can spend probably an hour at this worthwhile tourist destination in NYC.
