The Tribeca Film Festival is an iconic festival in New York City, known around the world and happens to be going on now. There are always a ton of amazing film premiers, with films competing in a variety of categories for the praise of a jury made of film experts in the industry.

Some of the popular award categories include Best Documentary, Best Short Film Director and Creative Promise Award.

Each category has its own group of jurors who will judge and award. These juries are usually pretty star-studded, and a few names to be dropped this year include Michael Moore and Kim Catrall in the Documentary Competition Jury, Dakota Fanning in the World Narrative Competition Jury, and Whoopi Goldberg in the Best New Narrative Director Jury. Whoopi will also be announcing the winners of the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival on April 26, 2012.

There is always a lot going on during the Tribeca Film Festival, so if you plan on attending, we recommend checking the events schedule so you don't miss out on the screenings you most want to see.
