Chelsea Market - Fun For Foodies & Food Show Fans
Chelsea Market is a cool place to walk around – it’s where most of the Food Network shows in New York are filmed, and doubles as a sort of foodie-mall. When I stepped inside the doors for the first time, I felt like I was in some combination of a museum, market, restaurant and studio. Although I didn’t take the actual Chelsea Market Food Tour, I did explore Chelsea Market and the surrounding Meatpacking District, and I wish I could have taken the tour.
I met some locals who had gone to a taping of the Rachel Ray Show, which is filmed in Chelsea Market, and they had a great time. Walking through the main hallway after the entrance, there are framed photos of celebrities who have visited Chelsea Market – the one that stood out to me most was Snoop Dog.
It’s a great place to go on a cold day, since it’s all inside and there’s a lot to do, and to eat! From exploring on my own, and hearing about the actual tours offered in Chelsea Market, I would like to go back and take one. Anyone who likes food shows and cooking will find Chelsea Market to be entertaining. The surrounding area has a ton of restaurants, is near the High Line Park, Chelsea Piers and the brand new Apple Store on 9th. (Which is MUCH less crowded than the popular 5th Ave store) so there is plenty to do in the area. Head to Chelsea and make a day of it!
