New Meadowlands Stadium is the Most Expensive Ever Built
Located in
Prices Ranging from
$35 - $400

Summary
Features: The New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford is currently called MetLife Stadium and holds two distinctions: First, it's the only NFL stadium that two teams call home (the NY Giants and NY Jets). Second, at a cost of $1.6 billion to construct, the MetLife Stadium New York is currently the most expensive stadium ever built. However, with 16+ NFL games a year, college football games, and arena concerts featured throughout the year, there is no doubt this modern stadium will eventually be considered "worth it" - even by New Yorkers.
Why We Go: If you're a football fan, you go to the MetLife Stadium NY for the football and the tailgating. Music enthusiasts go for the larger-than-life concerts, made even more pleasing by the New Jersey MetLife Stadium six huge HD TV screens scattered around the arena.
- Modern Football Experience: Opened in April of 2010, the MetLife Stadium New York is one of several new NFL stadiums that have opened up in recent years. The MetLife Stadium NY features modern amenities for football fans, including huge HDTV's, a high-quality sound system, and comfortable seating.
- Easy Mass Transit: The MetLife Stadium recommends visitors use mass transit when getting to the stadium, and the NJ Rail System makes event day commuting simple and fast.
- Tailgating: A time-honored football tradition, the MetLife Stadium New York still allows tailgating in the parking lot. However, it will cost you - parking for football fans without parking permits costs $25 per car.
Inside Knowledge: In 2010, the MetLife Stadium became the first cold-weather outdoor stadium to receive the rights to host the Super Bowl, which it will do in 2014. While the decision was somewhat controversial, NYC, New Jersey and the MetLife Stadium look forward to hosting Super Bowl XLVIII.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Get Tickets in Advance: The New York Giants and NY Jets are two of the NFL's most popular franchises, and their games are almost always sold out. If you want to make it to an NFL game at the MetLife Stadium New York, make sure to get your tickets well in advance.
- Do Watch Out for Rowdy Fans: The NY Giants and NY Jets boast some of the most passionate fans in all of football. Be careful when walking into the MetLife Stadium with the opposing colors on - especially if your team is winning.
- Don't Drive to the Stadium: Avoid traffic and the hefty price for parking at the MetLife Stadium by taking the NJ Transit Rail Service on event day.
- Don't Worry About Your Seat: The MetLife Stadium features great sight lines throughout the stadium, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Plus, the six huge HDTV's around the stadium make seeing the game easy and enjoyable, even if you're in the nosebleeds.

Football Fans Should Enjoy New Meadowlands Stadium
Most football fans should enjoy taking in a game at New Meadowlands Stadium. Since it hosts both the NY Giants and the NY Jets, you should be able to get tickets to one of these team's games. Though some sports fans complain that the stadium is too quiet, the nicer stadium and plentiful options for food will please most people. Meadowlands is conveniently located and easy to get to from both New Jersey and New York.
