One of the greatest guitar gods to ever live will be back on stage at the Madison Square Garden to rock the world a little bit longer. The classic rock icon will invade the Big Apple with hit songs like "Layla" and "I Shot The Sheriff."

From his bands The Yardbirds and Cream to Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos, originally Eric & The Dynamos, Eric Clapton is the second greatest living guitarist, behind B.B. King. Just as controversial as he is talented, Clapton kept bringing good music to the table, which is why he always remembered as one of the greats.

Since the early 1970s, Clapton began adapting to the ever-changing music industry, but alcoholism and drug addictions would hinder his ability to do so effectively. In between that time he performed with Pink Floyd and went on tour with Roger Waters. The two have been close friends ever since. While overcoming his addictions, Clapton continued to work and made music with Phil Collins in 1985s "Behind the Sun" album and 1986s "August."

He started the Crossroads Centre in Antigua in 1997 for treatment of addictive drug and alcohol disorders. In 1999 Clapton auctioned off some of his guitar collection raising over $7 million. When he was in his prime, Eric had a collection of about 2,000 guitars.

He was the one who started the Hard Rock Cafè's collection of memorabilia after he signed a guitar and donated it the cafè to designate his favorite bar stool. Pete Townshend, British rock guitarist, did the same and many others followed the trend.

Even though Clapton battled alcohol for years, he ended up doing a promotion track for Michelob bear, which was produced by Anheuser-Busch.

He won a British Academy Television Award for the collaboration with Michael Kamen on the television thriller Edge of Darkness in 1985 on the BBC.

See this guitar legend perform solo some of his greatest hits from past band albums and collaborations at his concert tour to New York. It will be decades of music mixed together for one night of nostalgic rock and blues.

Check out a live performance from his latest release "Back Home" and let his music take you away.
