Summary
Features: Colbert Report Live is the live recordings of the Emmy award winning satirical news show 'The Colbert Report' from Comedy Central. The show stars Stephen Colbert as a character of the same name. The Stephen Colbert Show heavily parodies Fox News network programs such as 'The O'Reily Factor'.
Why We Go: Colbert Report Live is a hilarious awarding show that is made even better live with pre-show stand-up routines and a Q&A session with Stephen Colbert himself.
- Funny: We love this show. Its parody on conservative news hosts and the media is a great contrast to the humor found in 'The Daily Show' with Jon Stewart, and the show is even funnier when you are part of the audience that creates the laughs behind each recording.
- Pre-show routines: In order to get you warmed up for the actual recording, Colbert Report Live features some stand-up routines and audience interaction before the show gets underway. Stephen Colbert even comes out and acts out of character in order to address questions from the audience regarding his character in-show and how the show came about.
- Free: Nothing beats free stuff in New York City, especially when free gets you Colbert tickets. You can either grab up to 4 free tickets for an upcoming Stephen Colbert Show online or you can get tickets on stand-by the day of a recording.
Inside Knowledge: The Colbert Report is a spinoff series to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. It was originally picked up for 8 episodes and was quickly renewed with a year-long contract after just two weeks of spectacular ratings on Comedy Central.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do laugh hysterically: Seriously. The crew for Colbert Report Live will actually ask you to laugh loud and often. It's not going to be hard for you to do though. The show is hilarious, and you may even hear yourself laughing when the show airs.
- Do get your tickets online: If you get your tickets at the Colbert Nation website, you can get up to 4 tickets for free. If you wait for stand-by tickets, then you are not guaranteed into the recording.
- Don't be late: If you show up to a recording line-up before 5:30pm, then chances are you won't be able to get in. Don't be late to these things!
- Don't spend money: You don't find free entertainment like this in Manhattan often. Enjoy it. Sometimes the most memorable shows won't cost you a dime to see.
